What is “Cash Discount” and Which Businesses Can Use It?

“Cash Discount” is a program available for any business who takes cash payments, but also wants to allow their customers the convenience of paying with a credit card. If the customer pays with cash, they can purchase an item at the advertised “cash” price. If they instead choose to pay with a credit/debit card, a 4% “non-cash adjustment” is added to their bill to cover the cost of credit card processing. This option eliminates the processing fees for the merchant. I would compare this program to a gas station having a “cash” price per gallon and a “credit” price per gallon.
